Pets over the age of seven are considered “seniors”. We strive to provide care and recommendations to enable your pet a long, healthy, comfortable life. The best way to do this for our older patients is to screen for diseases early and treat/monitor illnesses that have already been diagnosed. Early diagnosis and treatment may add years to your pet’s life. Since changes happen rapidly in animals, senior wellness exams should be performed every 6 months. We also recommend a comprehensive blood test and urinalysis once a year. At your pet’s senior wellness appointments, the doctor will perform a full physical exam and discuss any changes in your pet’s lifestyle, including diet and exercise. The veterinarian will review with you the different options available for necessary (if any) diagnostic testing and make recommendations specific to your pet.
